School lab programmes

APPLICATIONS FOR THESE PROGRAMMES FOR SCHOOL LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER SATURDAY, 29 FEBRUARY 2020.  We will consider what, if anything, to offer for school laboratory professionals after that.

We have two programmes which are for people wanting to start or up-skill for a career in school science:

The School Science Laboratory Technician Programme is essentially the first half of the School Laboratory Manager Programme.

The background material is learned by participants using our interactive video lessons. That gives great flexibility but requires initiative by participants. Participants are not left to flounder on their own; we monitor how they are doing. Tutorial help is available.

These programmes were developed with major input from school science professionals, especially members of the Science Technicians’ Association of New Zealand (STANZ).

I found my lab technician for schools course very informative. The biggest bonus was I was able to use my lab at school and easily fit the work around my daily schedule. The course support was excellent.
Chris Lea, St Peter's School (Cambridge)

I have found the School Laboratory Manager Programme to be both informative and helpful. In my role as a School Science Technician I use the Code of Practice on a daily basis, but the School Laboratory Manager Programme has made me delve further into the Code and look at parts from a different perspective. I now feel that I could confidently fulfill the role of School Laboratory Manager. I found that the way the programme is presented that I was able to fit it in around work and family life.
