Dr. Rachel Keedwell
Dr. Rachel Keedwell has been a Horizons Regional Councillor for Palmerston North since 2013, and will be serving her third term after receiving the highest number of votes in the past election. She has also been voted chair by the currently elected councillors. From her first term, Rachel has been the chair of the Passenger Transport Committee, and has enhanced bus service in Palmerston North including the installation of bike racks on all city buses. Among her other achievements while serving on HRC, Rachel has increased the biodiversity budget allocated in each of the annual plan processes, has gotten council to develop terms of reference around developing a climate change strategy, and has provided a consistently strong voice for the issues of water quality, biodiversity, active transport and sustainability. She is also a very active volunteer as a core member of the Ahimate Reserve Community, treasurer for Matariki Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten, and as a member of the cycling advocacy group People on Bikes Forum.
