Margie’s career in pastoral care has led to her travelling widely in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan where her work has supported many people in that area of the world as well as in New Zealand. While working at Kinnaird College for Women in Lahore, Pakistan, Margie interacted with hundreds of young women undertaking tertiary studies. Margie was Personnel Secretary for BMMF, an international agency preparing people for work in Asia and the Middle East. She continued similar work with International Assistance Mission based in Kabul where she lived and travelled widely in Afghanistan and Pakistan supporting 150 people from 17 countries. Through the years Margie has also supported many immigrants and refugees settling in New Zealand. In 2017 she was instrumental in establishing the Agapanthus Housing Trust which helps refugees in Palmerston North integrate into life in New Zealand in part by providing safe, warm housing.
